Dr. Nina Gerber (geb. Kolb) ist seit November 2020 als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in der Forschungsgruppe Arbeits- und Ingenieurpsychologie tätig. Ihre Forschungsinteressen liegen primär in den Bereichen Usable Privacy & Security, Mensch-Maschine-Interaktion und Produktgestaltung. Im Rahmen von ATHENE beschäftigt sie sich u.A. mit der Interaktion von Safety (Betriebssicherheit) und Security (Angriffssicherheit), die sich durch die Vernetzung in einer Smart City ergeben (Mission SecUrban) sowie mit der Entwicklung einer Mensch-Maschine-Schnittstelle in autonomen Fahrzeugen (CRISP-SaL4).

Ihre Promotion am Institut für Psychologie schloss sie unter Betreuung von Prof. Dr. Vogt im März 2020 ab. Die Dissertation trägt den Titel (““I wonder how, I wonder why”: Supporting users in protecting their digital privacy by increasing risk awareness and knowledge as well as addressing protection obstacles”).

Dr. Nina Gerber war bereits von April 2015 bis Oktober 2017 als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin in der Forschungsgruppe Arbeits- und Ingenieurpsychologie am Institut für Psychologie der TU-Darmstadt tätig. In Kooperation mit dem Fachbereich Informatik beschäftigte sie sich im Rahmen des vom BMBF geförderten Projektes "MoPPa – Modellierung des Privacy-Paradoxons aus technischer und psychologischer Sicht“ damit, wie Nutzer im Technikkontext mit privatsphäre-kritischen Daten umgehen. In einem weiteren Kooperationsprojekt mit dem Fachbereich Informatik sowie dem Fraunhofer SIT im Rahmen des „Center for Research in Security and Privacy“ (CRISP, heute: ATHENE) forschte sie zur Nutzerakzeptanz und Sicherheitswahrnehmung verschiedener Authentifizierungsverfahren und wirkte mit an der Entwicklung eines benutzerfreundliches Interfaces, das es Endanwendern ermöglicht, vertraulich und authentisch mittels Nutzung verschlüsselter E-Mails miteinander zu kommunizieren.

Zwischen November 2017 und März 2018 unterstützte sie zunächst das GRK 2050 – Privacy and Trust for Mobile Users als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin im Fachbereich Informatik der TU Darmstadt und wechselte dann im Rahmen eines Umzugs der gesamten Arbeitsgruppe an das Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT). Dort bearbeitete sie von April 2018 bis September 2019 am Institut für Angewandte Informatik und Formale Beschreibungsverfahren (AIFB) u.A. das EU-geförderte Projekt GHOST, das die Entwicklung einer nutzerfreundlichen Lösung zur Steuerung der Privatsphäresettings in Smart Home-Umgebungen anstrebt.
