Institute of Psychology

Psychology examines paradigmatic cause-and-effect relationships in the experience and behaviour of humans by using scientific and experimental methods.

Hence, behaviour models, theories and options for actions can be derived which may lead to applicable change, design and trainings methods. The spectrum of application covers besides extraordinary patterns of experience and behaviour (e.g. intellectual giftedness, mental disorder) many human-environment-interactions whose technical (human-machine-systems) and interpersonal (education, production and economic systems) parameters may differ in such a way as to require their own theoretical approaches and methods.

In order to test the application of psychological measures in model (laboratory, computer simulation) and field situations (companies, clinics, educational institutions), interaction-specific diagnostic and evaluation procedures are adopted allowing inferences to the validity of the originally recognized principles.
