The research group (headed by Wolfgang Ellermeier, Ph.D.) focuses on issues of auditory perception, noise effects, and the interaction of perception and memory as seen in the 'irrelevant speech effect'. Further research interests concern the auditory enhancement of virtual reality and the psychophysiological measurement of cognitive processes. Most of our applied research (e.g. on the sound quality of machinery noise) is of an interdisciplinary nature and is performed in close collaboration with our university's engineering departments and with international project partners (e.g. in France and Japan).
